The Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations was founded over ten years ago by Professor Carlo Sclafani, chair of the Modern Languages Department at Westchester Community College. A professor of Italian language and culture with a lifelong dedication to promoting all things Italian, Professor Sclafani works towards accomplishing various activities to further the Coalition's objectives and goals. He is joined by co-president and Eastchester businessman and NIAF's Westchester County Area Coordinator Vincent Zuccarelli. Our honorary past president is Mariella Clark, Westchester Community College educator. Honorary board members include:

  • Hon. Judge Francis A. Nicolai - Administrative Judge of the Ninth Judicial District, State of NY

  • Hon. Michael J. Spano - Member, NYS Assembly, 93rd Assembly District


    OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

    1. Unify the Italian American Organizations of Westchester for the sake of promoting a better communication and rapport among them.
    2. Promote and foster the Italian language and culture in the community and in all Westchester County schools.
    3. Support and promote the cultural, social and artistic activities of the Italian American organizations.
    4. Protect and defend the Italian Americans against prejudice and discrimination.
    5. Coordinate a calendar of events for the month of October - The Italian Heritage and Culture Month.

    OBBIETTIVI E SCOPI

    1. Unire le Associazioni Italo-Americane del Westchester con lo scopo di promuovere e creare un punto di incontro, una migliore comunicazione e un buon rapporto tra di loro.
    2. Promuovere lo studio della lingua e cultura italiana nelle scuole e nelle comunitą del Westchester.
    3. Appoggiare e promuovere le attivitą culturali, sociali e artistiche delle Associazioni Italo-Americane.
    4. Proteggere e difendere gli Italo-Americani da ogni pregiudizio e discriminazione.
    5. Coordinare il calendario degli eventi per il mese di ottobre - il mese della cultura italiana negli Stati Uniti.
    6. Fungere da centro di informazioni per le Associazioni Italo-Americane e la comunitą Italo-Americana.
